First-Time Metro Travel Guide for India
Plan before you go
Use the route finder to pick your two stations. Check the number of stops, whether you change lines, and the operator's first and last train times, which differ by city and line.
Get a ticket or card
Most systems sell single-journey tokens or QR tickets at station counters and machines, and rechargeable smart cards. A card is usually cheaper and faster at the gate. Rules and offers differ by city, so check the operator's site.
On the platform
Check the display for the line colour and final station of your train. Stand behind the safety line and let people exit before you board.
Changing lines
Follow the signs for the line you want at interchange stations. See each city's interchange guide from the guides list.
Exiting
Tap your card or insert your token at the exit gate. Keep your ticket until you have left the paid area.
Fares, timings and station names change. Treat this site as a planner and confirm with the official operator.
